Text Box: great. The Super Senior/Senior teams did well with three of them in the finals and two in the top five.
Text Box: General Whitfield made his first finals. JB had an MM. Jerry Beavers got “Dog of the Week” with a Text Box: beautiful 125 game. Lots of teams featured one bowler who bowled great and one who bowled not so Text Box: Jim’s Notes
Text Box: John Martin and Jim Stephens led the qualifying on Saturday and halfway through the finals, but Ron Leverich and Ryan Boroff ran off a string of big games to take the lead and entering the final game, led by 53 pins…meaning Stephens and Martin had to win the game by 24 to win the title. An early split hampered both teams, but John and Jim ran off a late six-bagger to win the match and the title. It was John’s 2nd SASBA title and Text Box: made them perhaps the oldest team to ever win a SASBA doubles championship. Dave Dupont and Jack Zuniga got 3rd, Maury Newman and Ted Pritts got 4th and Gary Pfeil and Joe LeCroy rounded out the top five.

Thanks to John and Judy Burns and Jack Zuniga for being great hosts and working hard to form teams and run a Pro-Am on Friday.

Next year, we’re going to make this Text Box: tournament a Super Senior/Senior/Guest Trio event, so start forming your teams now.

Our next tournament is in Houston at Copperfield Bowl. The flyers are out for the Labor Day Blowout in Lafayette. It will be a singles on Saturday and member/guest doubles on Sunday and Monday.
