Mark Estes has had a mini dry spell. He
whacked the pin in the eight game finals at Blazer Bowl in Garland to out average the next
player by four pins for the 20 games to win the tournament. SASBA hall of famer John
Denton captured second place, then led the qualifying by a ton, but took a siesta for a
while in the finals. John Woessner with his new 3 step approach captured
third. Lurking in fourth was another hall of famer Gary Dickinson making his
comeback from back surgery. Congrads to all of the 128 full field who averaged over
200. The lanes had just been resurfaced and looked beautiful. There was danger
lurking out there. Pinpoint accuracy with the right ball was needed on both sides of the
lanes. Spares were at a premium. Splits happened with errant and nearly good
shots. It was hard work.
Notes: Phil Ballard and John Denton bowled perfect games. Rich Snyder beat out a
bunch of players with 103 low game for the dog of the week award. Rich wished Bill
Sinsabaugh had bowled. Tom King left the lily. Rick Talley had an all-spare game.
SASBA bowler of the year, Maury Newman had two RB balls in one set, missing
the head pin on the left). Jesse |
