The annual Ebonite Senior Tour Christmas Team
Tournament produced four new champions. They were Dewey Crow, Dudley Seals, Fred Engquist,
and Bryce Ellison. The fifth member was the star, Ronnie Diamond. They were the
Sugar Plum Fairies, who finished second in the match play. The Grinches, Jim Paine,
Don Wall, Rit Kriechbaum, Ed Killcullen, and Jim Ensminger, led the match play, They were
defeated 207 to 181 in the baker finals. The Grinches had no champs. It was a thrill
watching that last match, knowing SASBA would have at least four new champs. There were
thirty teams competing at Plano Super Bowl, our largest. The computer matched the teams
using SASBA tournament averages to six one hundredths of a pin. Eighteen teams received
checks and three teams won Ebonite Warrior balls for 21 teams out of thirty cashing.
House bowler Steve Buckley won the dog of the week award with 123 low game for the
tournament. Leo Kiesewetter and Rick Minier rolled 300's.
At the annual meeting, Rick Talley was elected SASBA president, taking Bob Freehauf's
place. Richard Britton and David Zappitelli were elected Vice-president replacing Billy
Deel.
