Jim King averaged 230, a whopping 12 pins more than the next
bowler, to win by a mile the Ebonite Senior Tour's annual championship sponsored by Qubica
Scoring. The tournament held in New Braunfels at Paramount Bowl, is our most
prestigious event. The bowling condition was demanding and the carry was tough. King
averaged 230 which many of the 143 bowlers did not achieve. Mark Estes bowled one of
his monster last games to finish second. Gary Dickinson was third, Pat Curie fourth, Sal
Turano fifth and Dee Munsell sixth.
Notes: Louis Roper and Mike Lynch tied for the dog of the week award with 131 low games of
the tournament. Bob Maxfield rolled a 300, then started the next game with the first eight
for 20 in a row, amazing! Doc Williams left the lily. David Addington is the best Domestic
Engineer in SASBA. Can you believe that Joe Bess finished bowling Saturday night
went to the paddock changed shoes, putting Ricky McKinney's shoes on and left. Ricky was
shoeless until Joe returned the next day. Bill Smith rolled 695 for four games Sunday.
OOPS, Toby Yeager was seen visiting the ladies rest room. Richard Britton rolled one
of his patented RB's (that's missing the headpin on the left going away. Stan Workman had
two RB's, Bob Freehauf had two in one frame, missing the head pin on both balls, Bill
Hargett had a double RB missing the headpin and the two pin, picking three off of the
left, and there were many more ie no tug. Bob Neely was so cold that he had to leave
Sunday morning, but got the last |
