The Senior All Star Bowling Association inducted
seven charter members to its hall of fame. Those inducted were Gary Dickinson, John
Denton, Bob Freehauf, Robert Gibbs, Bob McGregor, Peggy Brooks and Jamie Brooks. The
ceremony was held at the banquet at the annual team tournament at Blazer Bowl in Garland.
SASBA bowlers of the year were selected by the membership. Maury Newman is bowler of the
year, Dick Smith is super senior of the year and Billy Hargett is rookie of the year. The
first team are Maury Newman, Mark Estes, Bob McGregor, Dick Smith and David Rountree. The
second team are Rick Talley, Jim King, Dennis Francis, Rudy Garcia, and Fred Barnes. The
Super senior first team are Dick Smith, Robert Gibbs, Stan Workman, Jim Paine, and Bob
Freehauf. The second super senior team are John Denton, Toby Yeager, Rich Snyder, Jamie
Brooks, and Clarence Hathaway.

the Track Senior Tour Annual team tournament. Team champions are John |

Denton, Gene Rush Fred Hicks, John Sands,
and Doc Williams. The Candy Canes, Jim Hardesty, Bobby Meadows, Lynn Leflore, Ron
Bloodworth, and Boyd Clark finished second. There were twenty-five teams entered which
were picked by the computer, shooting for $37,500.00 prize fund. Nineteen of the teams
cashed.
Jim Sapey won the dog of the week with 103 low game of the tournament. Bryce Ellison,
Larry Stroud, Thomas Sapp and Lee Ellison won free entries in next year's Bob Summerville
Memorial Tournament in the card draw. The field averaged 193 which was 13 pins under the
field average. The field set a new world's record for missing the most spares in a weekend
ever. Steve McBride's Silver Bells lost the first match and could not defeat the
SASBA Widow team where they had to bowl with in ten pins of their average. They were mired
there the entire tournament.
Our next tournament is a Member-Guest event at River Lanes in Tulsa. They have just put
new lanes in and they are red hot. See ya there!!!
