300 NUMBER SEVEN AT ONCENTER SYRACUSE, NY March 28, 1999 -- Tracy Patterson of Owasso, Oklahoma bowled the seventh 300 game at the Oncenter during the 96th Annual American Bowling Congress Championships Tournament in Syracuse. Patterson was bowling in his 23rd ABC and rolled his 300 game in the last game of the singles where it helped him to a 726 total. His other scores were 646 in the team event, 557 in doubles and 1929 for all events. On March 27 Patterson looked up ABC Tournament Public Relations employee Joe Green, of Tulsa. Green had gone out to film Patterson twice in 1996. One game Patterson had the first 10 and finished with 289. The other game he opened in the 10th and shot 268. This year Patterson said to Green, "Get your camera ready Joe." Patterson shot 646 in the team event but no 300. On March 28, right after his 300 game, an excited Patterson came to Public Relations asking for Joe Green. As fate would have it Green was on his day off and never saw the 300 game. Later Patterson's brother Dale said, "Green filmed me twice last year in Reno, once for my 297 game." Patterson, 50, bowled the team event with his brother Dale of Tyler, TX, Billy Young Jr. of Tulsa, Wally Cummings, of Tulsa, and William Carpenter of Lenoir, NC, Their team, Tulsa Bowling Supply, shot 3053. Three members of their team have been bowling together since 1976 - Cummings, Young, and Patterson. Young has at least one PBA title. Patterson related," Our best finish at the ABC was 2nd and we got beat out with just five days of the tournament left." Patterson is the Pro Shop Manager for Tulsa Bowling Supply. He is married to Debi and has a son, Thomas, 12, and a daughter, Andrea, 5. He is a right handed bowler and used an El Nino to bowl his 300 game. His previous high at the ABC was a 2081 all events in the 1996 ABC. A member of the Tulsa Bowling Hall of Fame, Patterson averages 225 in league and has seven 300's and one 800 to his credit. " The ABC is a tremendous Tournament," he said. The American Bowling Congress Championships will end June 20. Next years Championships are scheduled for Albuquerque and will start February 12, 2000.
